Your first real archery lesson. Linus hands you a bow if you have none, and asks you to beat three Farmers at the village farm using archery. Only archery kills count.

No items need to be gathered in advance.

  • You need no bow of your own: if you own no bow at all (backpack, bank or equipped), Linus gives you a Wooden Bow. He also tops your backpack up to 30 Wooden Arrows when you start.
  • The Farmers are weak (combat level 3), but bring a little food if your hitpoints are low; Cooked Meat from Martin's lessons works well.
  • The two Farmers roam the village farm around (44, 46) and (46, 46) in the Overworld, west of the barn.

  1. Talk to Linus (door at (65, 45); outside around (67, 46) during the day) and choose Talk about Linus' First Shots. He gives you the starter kit described above.

  2. Equip the Wooden Bow (or any bow) in your weapon slot. Then right-click your Wooden Arrows and choose Equip to Quiver. Talk to Linus about the quest again while the bow is equipped.

    This check is easy to miss: Farmer kills only start counting after Linus has seen your bow.

  3. Go to the farm around (44, 46) and defeat three Farmers with archery. The quest counter only moves when the killing blow is an archery attack, so do not finish them with melee or magic. Farmers respawn after about half a minute if you run out.

  4. Talk to Linus about the quest one last time to collect your reward.
