0 of 9 steps checked

  1. Talk to Eric the miner in the Cave and choose Talk about The Vein Beneath the Mountain. He gives you the Sealed Vein Map.

  2. Talk to Greg around (7, 18).

  3. Bring 8 Iron Ore and 4 Silver Ore to Greg and talk to him again.

  4. Bring 2 Iron Bars and 1 Silver Bar to Thomas (smith house, door at (34, 9) in the Overworld). He gives you a Reinforced Pick Head.

  5. Talk to Ed in the Smith Room (east passage of the Cave at (29, 20–21)). He gives you Survey Notes.

  6. Take the Deep Cave entrance at the south end of the Cave at (2–3, 43). Mine Deep Strikes rocks (Mining 14) until the survey counter reaches 4, and gather 4 Mithril Ore and 3 Gold Ore. The Deep Cave has five Deep Strikes rocks, four mithril rocks and four gold rocks.

The Deep Strikes counter goes up each time you mine Deep Strikes in the Deep Cave or Locked Cave during this step. Deep Strikes you already carry also count, but only once you mine something down there while the step is active.

  7. Talk to Eric with the Mithril and Gold in your backpack. He confirms the survey.

  8. Talk to Eric once more. He takes the 4 Mithril Ore and 3 Gold Ore and gives you a Vein Sample. Your Deep Strikes are not taken, so keep three of them for The Singing Vein.

  9. Give the Vein Sample to Greg to complete the quest.
